Mindful Reflections

Pausing to truly embrace.

A while back, I watched a video on how school got it wrong - from an islamic lense. Of course the title piqued my interest and I have held onto some of that knowledge since.

This is a reflection from my view of this video and how I am actively working to implement this methodology.

If there is a problem I can actively pin point that can be both a good and bad thing; it's having multiple interests and attempting to learn too many things in one go. I am sure this is something that also plagues many people. I guess I had the whole "idea" wrong. So with a fresh new perspective, it's time to put my focal point on excelling one subject or inter-connected subjects in one go.

What that looks like:

Why this matters: By taking on this checklist, I can better implement the ability to retain and actively use what I learn. Applying this to one subject at a time, to fully embrace the knowledge that can be obtained from a subject. This also helps me decide from the beginning if this is only a fading interest or one that will be held long-term enough to deserve my focus.

How I can apply this elsewhere: Among a long list of Youtube videos with amazing concepts, ideas, content, ect... This can help me tackle those videos one-by-one giving each solo attention. Rather than treating youtube like it's tiktok and running through multiple videos in one day, dedicate focus to one video per day or a set of videos around the same topic for one day. InshAllah.

This also helps keep my focus on quality content and removing content that would otherwise be useless. Which can be too easy to do without direction - which I believe this task list provides, inshAllah.

InshAllah this post will help to keep me accountable. Another thing I have to keep in mind (because no matter how nice this sounds - it takes dedication) is that life is temporary, focus on what matters, navigate by keeping God a part of all that I do/study and Barakah will be profound inshAllah.

In a time when access to information is at it's greatest, rather than let that information be a burden and take over you, take a hold of it in the best way and anchor it. Cause it to be your strength and not your weakness. toughen your critical thinking skills for easier navigation and know information is ever expanding and ever-changing. The only thing that is constant is our creator and what he has made in existence for us.

May Allah guide you and me and keep us steadfast on the straight path. Ameen.
